Get found locally

Be the trade they find when they search nearby.

When someone needs a gardener, a plumber or a roofer, they pick up their phone and search. The first few names they see get the calls. This page explains how that works, and what we do about it for you.

The problem

Most of your work comes from word of mouth, and that’s a good sign. But even a recommended customer usually searches your name before they call. If they find an old listing, no photos or nothing at all, some will move on.

New customers don’t know your name yet. They search for the job and the town, like “roofer Reading” or “boiler repair Slough”, and choose from what Google shows them.

Why it matters for a local trade

For local searches, Google shows a map with a few businesses first, then websites underneath. Those first few get far more attention than anything lower down.

Google decides who to show partly on how relevant, how close and how well known a business seems. You can’t change where a customer is standing, but you can make it much clearer what you do, where you work, and that real customers are happy with you.

What good looks like

  • A complete Google Business Profile with the right category, service area, hours and real photos of your work
  • A fast website with a clear page for each main service and the towns you actually cover
  • Your name, phone number and area written the same way everywhere they appear
  • A steady trickle of honest Google reviews, with a polite reply to each

How we handle it for you

  1. We check how you show up today against nearby competitors, for the searches your customers really use
  2. We set up or tidy your Google Business Profile and build a fast website around your services and towns
  3. We keep both up to date as your work changes, and add new photos when you send them
  4. Each month you get a short note on calls, enquiries and reviews, and what we did

Common questions

I already have a Google listing. Do I need anything else?

Your listing is the most important place to start. A clear website helps it: it gives Google more to understand, and gives customers somewhere to check your work before they call.

How long does it take to show up higher?

It varies. Some fixes, such as the right category or missing details, can help fairly quickly. Others build up over months. We won’t promise a ranking or a date.

Can I cover towns where I don’t have an address?

Yes. Google lets service-area businesses list the areas they cover without showing a home address. We’ll only name towns you actually work in.

Want to see where you stand?

We look at how you show up on Google and Maps against nearby competitors, then send you a free mock-up of your new homepage.

Free, with no obligation. You’ll hear back from a person, not a sales team.
